Emotional Playground (2019) – Designed by Michael Henriquez

Emotional Playground is a space where each coin displays a different emotion. There are 8 different emotional expressions, can you guess them? There is fear, joyfulness, anticipation, anger, disgust, trust, sadness, and surprise!

With this project I wanted to question the idea of emotions without traditionally using a character that mimicked human facial expressions or body language. At first the coin was an oreo but then developed into a sleeker, more colorful realm. This idea transformed into a coin in a room. Instead of following my traditional flow of using Adobe Suite to bring my ideas to life I wanted to capture the tangibility and physicality of a coin. I took on a new adventure over to Cinema 4D;  exploring rendering. I faced many challenges while constructing Emotional Playground - positioning the camera correctly each frame and trying to get the coin to move at the perfect angle, especially while using software that doesn’t function the same way as Adobe Suite.
